Washington County Historical Society "Flashback" newsletter No. 2239, Vol. VII, No. 3, May, 1957: "A Personal Tribute: Mrs. Evalyn Quaile, oldest of the three "Carnahan sisters" whom the Washington County Historical Society honored with a joint birthday celebration last fall, died March 29, 1957 at the age of 95. She was buried on her native Cane Hill, beside her father and mother, and surrounded by other members of this pioneer family.
She was truly a daughter of the Old South. I knew her only a short time -- but long enough to learn about her school days in old Cane Hill College and other events of the long-ago. She had lost her sight but her memory was clear as a bell. She sensed my interest and she talked about the old days with a charming vivacity. I may forget some of the things she told me. But I'll always remember her hand groping along the chair arm and coming to rest on my hand while she told me about the olden golden days. ---WJL"OBITUARY, Mar. 29, 1957, NW Arkansas Times, Fayetteville, Arkansas: MRS.
