William (Piatt)

William and Catherine Piatt are found on the 1820 census of Clark County,Ohio, along with John Piatt. Around 1841 William had moved to CrawfordCounty, Missouri. William married second Elizabeth Bennett on January 3,1850, in Crawford County. The last mention of William Piatt is on the1850 census of Crawford County where he is listed as 60 years old, abasket maker and born in Virginia.

The parents of William are not known at this time but he was born at sucha time that he cannot be far removed from his probable ancestry in NewJersey. The names William and Benjamin are oft used among Piatt families,and as such, only further the confusion. Anyone who can shed light onWilliam's parentage, please reply.

Daniel Washington (Piatt) Rev

Daniel at age 23 bought 120 acres of the original homestead for $140 fromhis mother and his stepfather/uncle, Elijah. Daniel and Mary werefarmers. Daniel was an ordained minister. Rev. Pyatt deeded some of hisland and built a church around 1924 and called it "Pyatt Hollow Church".He and his sons, Jim and Bud, ministered there for many years. Hisgrandson, Esco Pyatt, son of Wash and Cora Pyatt, taught Sunday Schooland was Sunday School Supt. for many years. Later on around the early1940's, Rev. Daniel Pyatt's grandson, Lushen Pyatt, deeded some of hisland for a new church up on the old C.C. road which is now called CenterRidge Church. They should have kept the name Pyatt on the church, sincethe Pyatt family gave both tracts of land to the church. It was a part ofthe Pyatt Hollow farm. Until Rev. Daniel Pyatt built the "Pyatt HollowChurch", the community had church in the homes in the winter time and inbrush arbors in the summer time. People would come from all around withhorse and buggies , on foot and on horse back to the Pyatt Hollow church.
