Elmer L. Pyatt
Elmer Lawrence Pyatt, 93, of Cutler, Ohio, passed away Jan. 1, 2005, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital after a recent illness.
Elmer was born Feb. 17, 1911, in Sandyville, a son of the late Edward
W. and Amy Pyatt. He married Mabel P. Rhodes on Aug. 12, 1932, in Ripley.
In his young adult life, he taught Sunday School at Mt. Hope Church in
Sandyville and retained connections with them throughout the years.
He retired from FMC, the former American Viscose Co., in 1974 after
30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mabel P. Rhodes Pyatt; daughters, Della Mae Pyatt of the home and Hilda C. Waggoner and her husband, Vental, of Dalton, Ohio; son, Ralph R. Pyatt and his wife, Carol, of Cutler, Ohio; six grandchildren, Howard J. Waggoner of Howard, Ohio, Kevin A. Waggoner of Orrville, Ohio, Theda E. Bass of Okeechobee, Fla., Nacoma J. Mayhugh of Chesterhill, Ohio, Ralph R. Waggoner of Akron, Ohio, and Dawn M. Barton of Parkersburg; 20 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Evelyn Shatto of Sandyville.
In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by five brothers; three sisters; and an infant son, Harley Emerson Pyatt.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Garry Pack officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery of Jackson County. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today and until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
