Piatt, 72, prominent Monroe County farmer, died Wednesday morning(November
9, 1949) at the home of a nephew, Harley Allen, Woodsfield Rt 4.Death followed
a long illness. The son of John and Mary Piatt, he issurvived by
four brothers, Jacob, of Woodsfield Rt. 4, Lorenz of WoodsfieldRt. 1, Albert
of Lewisville Rt. 2 and Charles of Woodsfield. The body has been removed
to the Schumacher funeral home in Woodsfield,where it will remain for services
Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. J.V.Traylor will officiate and
burial will be in Mt. Carrick cemetery.

87 of near Woodsfield, retired farmer, diedTuesday evening (Dec. 7, 1968)
in Barnesville Hospital after a long illness.Born June 9, 1878 in West
Virginia, he was a son of Benjamin and Mary TruaxPiatt. Surviving
are his widow, Pearl; four sons, John of Woodsfield Route 1, Paulof
the home and Archie and Arthur of Lewisville, three daughters Mrs MaryNalley
of Woodsfield Route 2, Mrs. Dorothy Briggs of New Concord and Mrs.Clara
Briggs of Newport, PA. 17 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Friends
may call after noon today at Gardner Funeral Home here. Services will
be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Ridge Church ofChrist, Minister
J.V. A. Traylor will officiate and burial will be in thechurch cemetery.
